Japan's secret to living to 100: Fudge the numbers!
Most of us want to live to be 100 years old, and many of us get caught up with the latest health information about fish oil or antioxidants providing us with the secret formula for longevity.
Well, here's another way to live to be a centenarian: Creative counting.
The Japanese government just announced that more than 230,000 citizens listed as being at least 100 years old are "missing" or "unaccounted for."
The press reports don't indicate if any census workers checked their local casinos for these people. But it seems likely that the majority died without it being recorded. A genealogy buff's nightmare.
This massive accounting error raises huge questions about various world records about "The World's Oldest Man" and "The World's Oldest Woman."
Maybe we Americans can go back to eating whatever we want!
