Not many of our cameramen can claim to have lived on a Dutch oil rig in the North Sea, but that week-long stint for National Geographic is life-as-usual for Thomas, our go-to guy for adventurous shoots. He is a seasoned hiker, rock climber, and mountaineer, reserving a special place in his heart for Yosimite Valley.

Not one for living in the past, Thomas has left all his baby pictures with his father, who lives in Germany. We are using a stand-in baby from the Netherlands (left) until he delivers us the genuine thing.
